In downtown Muncie, Indiana, parking lots dominate the city's infrastructure and conceal the history of a once-thriving area. In the city that used to be referred to as "Little Chicago," 25,000 people used to reside downtown, but that number has shrunk to nearly 1,000. To revive the historical sites that once were, the Mobile Museum of Muncie Augmented Reality experience allows users to visit various downtown locations and listen to a narration of history, view pictures, and interact with models that provide a sense of what life was like during these periods in time. This project demonstrates how AR can be leveraged in small towns and rural communities to  rekindle an appreciation of their cultural heritage.
